Galeria Nuno Centeno is pleased to be listed among the 23 galleries exhibiting at the eighth edition of the Drawing Room Lisboa. The contemporary art fair is taking place at Sociedade de Belas Artes, in Lisbon, from the 23rd to the 26th of October 2025. This year, Drawing Room Lisboa’s programming aims at not just promoting contemporary drawing but also its collecting. In addition, there are exhibitions of the Prémio Desenho FLAD’s finalists, as well as Algum Desenho, curated by Miguel von Hafe Pérez, on the first floor.
This year's participation of Galeria Nuno Centeno includes four distinct Portuguese represented artists, namely Jorge Feijão, José Pedro Croft, Maria Capelo and Sobral Centeno. Galeria Nuno Centeno will be located at stand number 17.
Jorge Feijão’s (b. 1971, France) drawings meditate on great universal questions such as the creation of the universe, and therefore the world and humanity. His art is composed of pieces that complement each other and integrate as a whole. He lives and works in Caldas da Rainha and won the Prémio Internacional Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso/Aquisição Taminvest SGPS in 2007.
José Pedro Croft’s (b. 1957, Portugal) artistic practice is dedicated to a variety of disciplines such as sculpture, painting and drawing. His work evokes architectural spaces and their scale perception by using tensions of lines, geometric shapes and color. He is currently exhibiting Reflexos, Enclaves, Desvios in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Maria Capelo’s (b. Portugal, 1970) drawings imagine mountainous landscapes of dense forests and foliage. Her works, full of cinematic and literary references, are also inspired by memories of concrete places. Maria has been consistently exhibiting since the 1990’s - one of her last critically acclaimed exhibitions, titled Sombras Rosas Sombras, also took place in Sociedade de Belas Artes.
Sobral Centeno’s (b. Portugal, 1948) drawing practice explores the transmission of memories through intricate symbols and quick strokes, which appear as a written system in themselves. His work is included in several collections, such as the Fundação de Serralves (Porto, Portugal), Centro de Arte Moderna da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Lisbon, Portugal) and Coleção de Arte Moderna e Contemporânea – Norlinda e José Lima (Portugal).
Drawing Room is running Thursday, 23rd (4pm to 9pm); Friday, 24th (2pm to 9pm); Saturday, 25th (11am to 9pm) and Sunday, 26th (11am to 6pm). Tickets need to be acquired in order to access this event.
