Galeria Nuno Centeno is pleased to present the installation ‘2056’ of Openfield CreativeLab.
Founded in 2015 by five local artists from Porto, Portugal, Openfield sets out to explore the powerful combination of art, technology and architecture to deliver fresh and immersive experiences. As of today, the team at Openfield has come together to create a wide range of interactive and performance-based media artwork that has helped shape how audiences perceive artistic experiences in both public and private spaces. Furthermore, the physical space where Openfield operates (a.k.a. the Lab) is an ideal venue to build collaborations with other creators.

2056

Created specifically for the “Gruta”, a cave room at Galeria Nuno Centeno, 2056 is an audiovisual installation that aims to recover an reinterpret a historic achievement which was the world prize received in 1956 for the polished circular-crown column by the Cooperativa dos Pedreiros (historial bricklayers’ union from Porto), and its subsequent decline.
By exploring new digital techniques of conception & construction, 2056 is composed by two vertical and one horizontal columns that fill up the space through an audiovisual narrative that deconstructs and enhance both columns and space and the relationship between them.
