Ana Hatherly and Mumtazz at MNAC’s ‘Ultratremor’
The group show is opens today at MNAC – Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea – Museu do Chiado
Ultratremor is opening today at MNAC – Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea, in Lisbon.
The exhibition explores the concept of a “tremor” as both a physical vibration and a profound existential restlessness, evoking the shaking that precedes a revelation. It brings a focus on spirituality and mysticism, challenging the boundaries between the physical realm and the intangible.
Curated by Brazilian writer and researcher Germano Dushá, this exhibition compiles artworks from 16 artists from Portugal and Brazil. The selection of participants relies on an abstract, shared frequency that connects both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. The exhibition makes use of the artworks as energetic channels and visionary tools, moving beyond logic and perception, intertwining the symbolic and the occult.
The lineup includes represented artists by Galeria Nuno Centeno Ana Hatherly and Mumtazz. It also features artists such as Henrique Pavão, Iara Izidoro, Joana Escoval, Josi, Julia Gallo, Leticia Ramos, among others…
Ultratremor is opening at Ala Capelo Sul of MNAC – Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea – Museu do Chiado on May 29th, at 6:30pm, and it will be on display until October 4th, 2026.
