Galeria Nuno Centeno is proud to present the group show Reality Diner featuring the artists Alisa Heil, Daniel Steegmann Mangrané, Gabriel Lima, Mauro Cerqueira, Max Ruf and Sam Lewitt.
Although emerging from distinct artistic practices, the featured artworks share a similar intention to organize reality and lived experience. This conversational relationship between an artwork and reality has many dimensions in the realm of Art but in these groups of works the point of inflection seems to always rest in common nouns i.e. the mirror, the chain, the circuit, the self. It is necessary to presuppose reality to convert word into image and image into word, but there is nothing to express reality, except the words and images that make it conceivable.
In each of the artworks, every relationship between word and image happens, each time, in a singular and unassuming way, without desire to establish a hierarchy, a general rule or a stable register. At the same time, through the gaze of the viewer and with each renewed encounter, the artworks reaffirm and reconstitute the symbolic space capable of harboring the possibility of knowing.
