The subjects that populate Manuela Sedmach’s canvases are distant, indefinite and unknowable places: mists and vapors, marine atmospheres, boundless horizons, desert, cosmoses and stars.
Manuela began her career in the 1970s with numerous exhibitions in important galleries and museum spaces. The artist transforms her paintings into testimonies of the essential, outlining indefinite landscapes wrapped in fog. She manages to create worlds and thoughts with few signs and few colors looking for a dimension of inner freedom outside of homologation, freedom that can be expressed with a few strokes on the surface of a canvas.
Manuela has collaborated with the Galleria Continua since 1991, exhibiting in the galleries of San Gimignano, Les-Moulins, Paris, Beijing and Dubai. Manuela Sedmach won numerous awards including the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, New York in 1999.
